Joy’s Journal 2-15

Finally, the much awaited (For some people) next part of Joy’s Journal, part fifteen! There are thirty parts in this series.

When I went back to classes the next day my ‘friends’ set out to make my life miserable. It worked.

Lockbox

I remember seeing them crowded around my locker as I pulled my stuff out if it.

Mudjuice

I jumped back as a jar of dirt and bugs spilled everywhere. It was positioned to fall out as soon as I opened the door.

By the way the girls were laughing I knew they had done it on purpose.

DSCN7168.JPG

The janitor handed me a broom, and I heard Roberta whisper something to Serenity.

“Stupid girl.”

By the time I had finished sweeping the mess up I was late to Art, and the halls were deserted.

Talking to ze teacher.JPG.jpg

I hadn’t had time to grab my art supplies, so I went to the teacher to try to explain what happened.

“I’m late because some girls put a jar of bugs and dirt in my locker and I didn’t have time to clean in up. I didn’t have time to get my art supplie-”

Ri's lie.JPG

One of the other girls in Roberta and Serenity’s group waltzed in.

“She’s making things up Mrs Oakwood. She’s lying. No one did anything to her, she just didn’t want to paint.”

“Is this true Joy?”

“Of course not! It’s-”

“You are going to believe JOY?” The girl asked. “The one who lied to everyone about her illness to skip school?”

“Good point Cinnamon.”

“You are going to believe Cinnamon?” I burst out. “What abo-”

Mrs Oakwood cut me off. “That’s enough Joy. We need to start.”

And so I got to stare at an empty easel the entire time.

Spring Photo Shoot

For Easter I dressed up all my dolls in nice, springy outfits and took them outside for a photo shoot. I did a group picture, but also single pictures of each doll. I am going to use these as profile pictures because the place where I used to take profile pictures no longer exists.

Alishdollish

Group picture!

This was really fun to take. I had to arrange all fifteen dolls. (Count them!) Most of the dolls are positioned well. A couple of them I don’t like so much, such as Gabi, Jenny, and Faith. Overall though, I really like this picture.

I am going to try to use it as a header image. I don’t know how well that will work…

Mckenna is not colorblind

I really like this picture. Mckenna’s hair is frizzy, and I didn’t have a good pair of shoes for this outfit that no one else was wearing, but whatever. Who needs shoes?

Mckenna is wearing:

A dress that I sewed and tie dyed,

The shrug from the fall outfit I bought at our local festival,

The matching hair bow with aquamarine lace wrapped around it.

Abbygail

I like this one too. The outfit looks good on Abby, but come to think of it, she would never wear something that frilly.

Abby is wearing:

American Girl Grace’s opening night dress

Headband from American Girl Grace’s opening night outfit.

Rileygail

I like how the tall grass and flowers cast shadows on Riley.

Riley is wearing:

Shirt from the American Girl spring breeze outfit,

Tunic from the American Girl spring breeze outfit,

Leggings from the American Girl warm winter outfit,

Shoes from the American Girl spring breeze outfit,

Random butterfly hair clip.

Kateskate

Katelyn isn’t looking at the camera. Argh! And her hair is messy.

Katelyn is wearing:

My Life As dress,

Headband from a Madame Alexander outfit. (I looked, but I got it years ago, and I have no idea what the outfit is called)

Gracietree

Oh, I love this picture of Grace. Even though the shoes never made it on her.

Grace is wearing:

Skirt that I made out of lace and fabric I dyed,

Tank top from American Girl Gabriela McBride’s meet outfit,

American Girl Isabelle’s purple Wrap sweater.

Hope and Pride

Argh! This one’s kind of blurry.

Hope is wearing:

Cheerleader dress from my local festival,

Pom pom from the cheerleader outfit (In her hair)

Headband from Our Generation Joy’s meet outfit,

Boots that I made.

Joyfullybushes

Joy looks so adorable in that dress.

Joy is wearing:

A dress that I made,

Our Generation Joy’s meet shoes.

Maria moose

Maria isn’t looking at the camera, but I like this one.

Maria is wearing:

A baby dress I adjusted to fit my dolls,

The headband from the American Girl love to layer accessories,

The shoes that Journey Girl Callie was wearing when we found her.

Faith under the branches

Not one of my favorites, but it’s okay.

Faith is wearing:

A baby dress I adjusted to fit 18 inch dolls,

Our Generation Parker’s meet shoes.

Dandieileen

I absolutely love this one. It fit’s Eileen’s personalty so well.

Eileen is wearing:

The American Girl petals and posies dress that Mia was wearing when I found her,

A pearl bracelet from Our Generation,

Random blue ribbon,

And she’s holding a dandelion.

Lealove

I don’t really like this picture, but it fits Lea’s personality.

Lea is wearing:

American Girl Merry Magenta dress,

American Girl Merry Magenta headband.

Mialyn

I really like the outfit that Mia is wearing.

Mia is wearing:

A dress that I made,

A sash that my cousin crocheted,

The Journey Girls shrug Callie was wearing when we found her,

American Girl Lea’s meet shoes,

Our Generation Parker’s meet headband,

An ice skate charm on a piece of ribbon.

Gabbygail

I like this picture. If only Gabi was sitting up more.

Gabi is wearing:

Our Generation Doll shirt, (Someone gave it to me, and I never identified it)

American Girl headband from Grace’s baking outfit,

American Girl Gabriela McBride’s meet leggings,

American Girl boots from Soft As Snow outfit.

KaoriCallie

Callie is so fun to pose! This picture was fun to take.

Callie is wearing:

A dress I made,

Headband from American Girl Spring Breeze outfit,

Shoes from Our Generation tworiffic twin set.

Jennylyn

Argh! Jenny’s hair is so frizzy.

Jenny is wearing:

My Twin Blooming Flower dress,

My Twin shoes,

Random hair clip.

So there you have it. This year’s Easter photo shoot. I hope you enjoyed.

Painting Fireworks

Today is painting fireworks. I have seen this using toilet paper rolls, but I used straws because it is for dolls.

DSCN8696[1]                          You will need straws, something to put paint on, paint, and paper.  Cut the straws into pieces and cut the end in strips. Spread the strips out to look like fireworks. DSCN8697[1]                          Paint fireworks!

Joy’s Journal Part Ten

part one part two part three part four part five Part Six part seven part Eight Part Nine

Today was the day I went to school. I was fine until gym class. I had been walking around on a aching leg all day, and it hurt enough. I knew if I did gym it would be agony. DSCN7979[1]       When I got to the gym I was a little late and they had already started. I saw instantly the gym had changed. They were doing bar now, and Grace was on the bar. DSCN7980[1]      Gathering my courage, I walked up to the teacher.

“Oh Joy! You are finally here again. I am glad that you are well enough to come.”

“I am here, but I don’t think I can do gym today, with my broken leg and all.” I confessed.

“I am sure you can do bar.”

“No.” I instead. “I need to skip today.” DSCN7981[1] Over in the dark two girls were whispering about me.

“She is such a idiot she won’t even do gym.”

“Who does she think she is?” DSCN7982[1] Savanna walked over.

“Seriously?”  She said. “We all know that you want to not have to show everyone your terrible skills, but you don’t have to complain about her getting to leave.”

That was the end of that. DSCN7983[1]   Then Savanna walked over to me.

“Don’t listen to them!” She told me. “They just are jealous that you get to skip class, and they have to do stuff that they are terrible at.”

I giggled.

“I’ll come with you.”

“Okay.” I was grateful for her company. DSCN7984[1] Miss Maria sat on the bed in the nurses office reading a book. DSCN7986[1]   We went in.

“Hello Miss Maria!” I greeted her. “I was wondering if I could rest in here for a bit?”

“Of course!” Miss Maria said. DSCN7987[1]  Savanna left, and I sat on the bed. Miss Maria and I started talking.

“I have an idea for a project for the money raising race,” She told me. “And since you haven’t been here I thought you might like to take it, it’s already started.”

“I’d love to!” DSCN7988[1]        I was handed a book. It was all about Maria in her home country. They really needed fans. DSCN7989[1] Maria plopped a neat pile of folded blankets on my lap.

“I have been making blankets, hoping we could sell them for fans?” She told me.

“That’s a wonderful idea!” I burst out. “I’ll do it!”

“Now you should rest,” Miss Maria reminded me. DSCN7990[1]     So I took the book and read it with the pile of blankets at my feet. DSCN7991[1]  Soon enough gym was over and Savanna came in. DSCN7992[1]     Then I sat up and told her about it. She agreed it was a wonderful idea, one that would surely win. Lexie

The Gazebo

I’m not qualifying this as the dollhouse project, but technically it is part of the dollhouse. When Samantha’s Gazebo came out last spring, I knew I wanted to make it. It has taken a whole year, but oh well. I finally finished it (For now) and I think it turned out pretty well. DSCN7889[1]      Last spring, I wanted to find a top for the gazebo. We looked at our hardware store. When we came to the bird feeder section, there was a perfect bird feeder. It had six sides, a top, a bottom. It was a little over my price range, but it was perfect enough, I didn’t care. The bird feeder part was cracked though, and it was the only one left. We went to guest desk thing. I asked, (Being 11, they were more likely to give me a discount.) Since I wasn’t going to use to feed the birds tuppence a bag, tuppence tuppence a bag. (Shout out to everyone in my homeschool groups’s Mary Poppins) it was a perfect bird feeder for my gazebo. The price was even better. Since it couldn’t be used for what it was made for, they gave me eight dollars off, bringing it to four dollars! DSCN7887[1]  Here it is! I used dowels from a broken chair, and beads to lengthen it. I painted it all purple/white. DSCN7888[1]         I used Popsicle sticks to brace it, and I love the way it looks!DSCN7890[1]    It’s a lot smaller then Samantha’s, but it still is pretty big. Big enough for two dolls to sit in chairs and talk.

I am going to use it for camp, and a meeting place for the dolls. I am very happy with it, and it only cost five dollars, (I used dollar store foam bored for the top and bottom.) I’m glad I made it, and it turned out better than I expected.

New Springfield Dolls Updated

I have new information and pictures, so here they are. ChristianHomeschooler  from TreasuredFriendshipsWithAflair took some pictures, and kindly granted me permission to use them. You can see them here.

The new dolls are officially in stock at the stores, except Michaels has switched to another brand for the holidays, so you can’t find them there. You can get them at Hobby Lobby, and probably Joanns, however on the websites, they are still the old dolls.

Springfield1

Here are all the dolls That Hobby lobby had. They got a new box, but it looks to be the same, flimsy, style.

Springfield2

Here is Abby. I like the picture on the front of the box, but they don’t sell the clothes with the dolls, so they shouldn’t have done that.

Springfield3

Then we have Emma. There is a price tag that says 24.99, I think.

Springfield4

Here we have Olivia. I like how she looks more realistic, and I love the red hair and teal.

Springfield5

Last we have Madison. She changed the most, but she is still cute.

Thank you Christianhomeschooler for lending me the pictures!

I was looking at the Springfield website’s dolls. All of them looked weird except Maria. I clicked on the pages to the the pictures and this is what I found out.

Abby is OUT OF STOCK

Madison is OUT OF STOCK

Olivia is OUT OF STOCK

Emma is OUT OF STOCK

Maria is not, but this is why.

The pictures of the dolls are different. All but Maria have different face molds, and all the dolls that had bangs won’t anymore. The new pictures say arriving December 1. I think that they discontinued the dolls, and are making new dolls to be released December 1.

Here are the new ones and the old ones.

It looks like the new Abby has lighter skin, darker lips, and a slightly different shade of hair. It doesn’t look like a big smile anymore, and the eyebrows are visible, and too dark. No bangs ether.

Madison - 18 inch African-American Doll

The old Madison has darker skin, the new one’s looks like Maria’s. The new Madison’s eyes are darker, and the hair looks different. The lips are darker, like I think they should have been on old Madison.  Emma - 18 inch Doll

Emma looks like she is wearing mascara. The lips are more realistic, and the eyebrows are too dark.

Olivia - 18 inch Doll

The new Olivia has a different shade of skin, and doesn’t look like she is wearing blush, and lipstick. Her hair looks redder, and her eyes darker. The dress looks different, but it might be the picture.

Maria - 18 inch Latina doll

The only thing I can tell about Maria is her hair won’t be layered.

In some ways the change will be better, in some ways worse. If you want an old doll, get it now, before they go away. I don’t know how long the stores will have the old dolls, or even if they will get new dolls at all. I am not planing on getting any new dolls, but I hope the hair quality goes way up. (Abby’s hair is a frizzy mess, and Maria’s is on it’s way.)

What do you think of the changes? I don’t know if everything is true, most is just guesses. Lexie

Make a message center

DSCN4396[1]

We were sitting by the pool again when Faith suddenly said something “We need a message center!”

Here is how to make your own.

For a board for your announcements

DSCN4397[1]

Cut the lid off of a egg carton.

DSCN4398[1]

Line it with paper.

For the mail center.

DSCN4401[1]

Take a piece of paper. I am using the leftover stuff from the board.

DSCN4402[1]

Cut a square of paper and fold the corners in to make an envelope.

DSCN4403[1]

Cover your paper with envelopes.

DSCN4405[1]

On the wall I hung the board with thumbtacks and the dolls can use it for announcements. I also hung the mail paper with thumbtacks and the dolls can give and receive mail there.

There is still time to enter my contest

Camp is coming

DSCN4349[1]

I sat waiting. The camp counselor was supposed to be coming.

DSCN4350[1]

When she got here she said hi.

DSCN4351[1]

Then she sat down and handed me her clipboard. “Would you please sign these forms?”

DSCN4352[1]

I showed her around and then we sat talking in the pool area.

DSCN4353[1]

We made the first camp shirt and then decorated it.

DSCN4354[1]

I made the shirt by cutting a piece of cloth, Cutting arm holes. Gluing on buttons and cutting button holes, and then decorating it with markers.

Friendship Bracelets.

DSCN4270[1]

Abby came up to Maria.

“Hi Maria!”

“Oh hi Abby!”

“I haven’t seen you in awhile. Would you like to do something fun?”

“Sure. Let’s make friendship bracelets!”

DSCN4274[1]

We sat down

“I have the yarn!” I said

“So what’s new with camp?” Abby asked

DSCN4272[1]

“They are going to have a contest and I am entering.” I told Abby.  “It is writing a story and they will pick the best one for a camp play.”

“That sounds cool.” Abby said “Can I enter.”

“I think that the whole world can enter.” I said “But I am going to make sure that all the dolls enter.”

“Cool!” Abby said “But let’s get to our bracelets.”

DSCN4271[1]

We sat with the yarn in front of us to pick colors.

“How about we each make a bracelet and then trade?”

“Works for me!”

DSCN4275[1]

As we started on out braclets we talked.

“How was your month?” I asked

“It was great!” Abby said “All of the spotlight was on me and I got to do a lot of fun stuff. How is yours going?”

“Good.” I said “It is fun. I can’t wait till camp though.”

DSCN4276[1]

We both had finished bracelets so we traded.

DSCN4277[1]

We put them on, linked hands, and yelled: SPRINGFIELD FRIENDS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your dolls can make bracelets too. Embroidery thread works well for yarn and any simple pattern is pretty.
