Joy’s Journal 2-15

Finally, the much awaited (For some people) next part of Joy’s Journal, part fifteen! There are thirty parts in this series.

When I went back to classes the next day my ‘friends’ set out to make my life miserable. It worked.

Lockbox

I remember seeing them crowded around my locker as I pulled my stuff out if it.

Mudjuice

I jumped back as a jar of dirt and bugs spilled everywhere. It was positioned to fall out as soon as I opened the door.

By the way the girls were laughing I knew they had done it on purpose.

DSCN7168.JPG

The janitor handed me a broom, and I heard Roberta whisper something to Serenity.

“Stupid girl.”

By the time I had finished sweeping the mess up I was late to Art, and the halls were deserted.

Talking to ze teacher.JPG.jpg

I hadn’t had time to grab my art supplies, so I went to the teacher to try to explain what happened.

“I’m late because some girls put a jar of bugs and dirt in my locker and I didn’t have time to clean in up. I didn’t have time to get my art supplie-”

Ri's lie.JPG

One of the other girls in Roberta and Serenity’s group waltzed in.

“She’s making things up Mrs Oakwood. She’s lying. No one did anything to her, she just didn’t want to paint.”

“Is this true Joy?”

“Of course not! It’s-”

“You are going to believe JOY?” The girl asked. “The one who lied to everyone about her illness to skip school?”

“Good point Cinnamon.”

“You are going to believe Cinnamon?” I burst out. “What abo-”

Mrs Oakwood cut me off. “That’s enough Joy. We need to start.”

And so I got to stare at an empty easel the entire time.

Spring Photo Shoot

For Easter I dressed up all my dolls in nice, springy outfits and took them outside for a photo shoot. I did a group picture, but also single pictures of each doll. I am going to use these as profile pictures because the place where I used to take profile pictures no longer exists.

Alishdollish

Group picture!

This was really fun to take. I had to arrange all fifteen dolls. (Count them!) Most of the dolls are positioned well. A couple of them I don’t like so much, such as Gabi, Jenny, and Faith. Overall though, I really like this picture.

I am going to try to use it as a header image. I don’t know how well that will work…

Mckenna is not colorblind

I really like this picture. Mckenna’s hair is frizzy, and I didn’t have a good pair of shoes for this outfit that no one else was wearing, but whatever. Who needs shoes?

Mckenna is wearing:

A dress that I sewed and tie dyed,

The shrug from the fall outfit I bought at our local festival,

The matching hair bow with aquamarine lace wrapped around it.

Abbygail

I like this one too. The outfit looks good on Abby, but come to think of it, she would never wear something that frilly.

Abby is wearing:

American Girl Grace’s opening night dress

Headband from American Girl Grace’s opening night outfit.

Rileygail

I like how the tall grass and flowers cast shadows on Riley.

Riley is wearing:

Shirt from the American Girl spring breeze outfit,

Tunic from the American Girl spring breeze outfit,

Leggings from the American Girl warm winter outfit,

Shoes from the American Girl spring breeze outfit,

Random butterfly hair clip.

Kateskate

Katelyn isn’t looking at the camera. Argh! And her hair is messy.

Katelyn is wearing:

My Life As dress,

Headband from a Madame Alexander outfit. (I looked, but I got it years ago, and I have no idea what the outfit is called)

Gracietree

Oh, I love this picture of Grace. Even though the shoes never made it on her.

Grace is wearing:

Skirt that I made out of lace and fabric I dyed,

Tank top from American Girl Gabriela McBride’s meet outfit,

American Girl Isabelle’s purple Wrap sweater.

Hope and Pride

Argh! This one’s kind of blurry.

Hope is wearing:

Cheerleader dress from my local festival,

Pom pom from the cheerleader outfit (In her hair)

Headband from Our Generation Joy’s meet outfit,

Boots that I made.

Joyfullybushes

Joy looks so adorable in that dress.

Joy is wearing:

A dress that I made,

Our Generation Joy’s meet shoes.

Maria moose

Maria isn’t looking at the camera, but I like this one.

Maria is wearing:

A baby dress I adjusted to fit my dolls,

The headband from the American Girl love to layer accessories,

The shoes that Journey Girl Callie was wearing when we found her.

Faith under the branches

Not one of my favorites, but it’s okay.

Faith is wearing:

A baby dress I adjusted to fit 18 inch dolls,

Our Generation Parker’s meet shoes.

Dandieileen

I absolutely love this one. It fit’s Eileen’s personalty so well.

Eileen is wearing:

The American Girl petals and posies dress that Mia was wearing when I found her,

A pearl bracelet from Our Generation,

Random blue ribbon,

And she’s holding a dandelion.

Lealove

I don’t really like this picture, but it fits Lea’s personality.

Lea is wearing:

American Girl Merry Magenta dress,

American Girl Merry Magenta headband.

Mialyn

I really like the outfit that Mia is wearing.

Mia is wearing:

A dress that I made,

A sash that my cousin crocheted,

The Journey Girls shrug Callie was wearing when we found her,

American Girl Lea’s meet shoes,

Our Generation Parker’s meet headband,

An ice skate charm on a piece of ribbon.

Gabbygail

I like this picture. If only Gabi was sitting up more.

Gabi is wearing:

Our Generation Doll shirt, (Someone gave it to me, and I never identified it)

American Girl headband from Grace’s baking outfit,

American Girl Gabriela McBride’s meet leggings,

American Girl boots from Soft As Snow outfit.

KaoriCallie

Callie is so fun to pose! This picture was fun to take.

Callie is wearing:

A dress I made,

Headband from American Girl Spring Breeze outfit,

Shoes from Our Generation tworiffic twin set.

Jennylyn

Argh! Jenny’s hair is so frizzy.

Jenny is wearing:

My Twin Blooming Flower dress,

My Twin shoes,

Random hair clip.

So there you have it. This year’s Easter photo shoot. I hope you enjoyed.

Joy’s Journal 2-10

This was only the beginning of such sleepovers. I would have skipped them, but I was scared that my friends wouldn’t like me. So I went to all of them, staying in my room to sleep every day after. I fell farther and farther behind in my classes, but at the moment I didn’t really care. I just wanted to make it through alive.

dscn46601                         Roberta was the first to pick up on it. One day she confronted me about it.  dscn46611                         “Joy, I want to know why every time we have a sleepover you skip classes.”

“Um.” What could I say to that? “I have a reason, but for now you don’t need to know.”

Roberta was not satisfied with that. She told the rest of our group about it, and the were always pestering me, being quite mean. They didn’t believe me, and they really wanted to know. One time I even caught Roberta reading my journal. dscn46621                         After one really hard day I was taking a nap. Savana came down to our room.dscn46631                         “Joy are you okay?” dscn46641                          And then to my surprise I had smacked her, and she was laying on the ground.

I cried myself to sleep.

Joy’s Journal Part Eight

Yes, this was supposed to be posted a long time ago. Like on November 1st. So just pretend it is November 1st, and you’ll be good.

Savana was spending more time with her horseback riding friends, and we didn’t have any classes together, so I started hanging out with Roberta. Her group was the popular one, the one everyone loved and wanted to be with. This group wasn’t all that great though…..dscn44411                        While we were eating lunch I saw Savana wandering around, looking for a place to sit. dscn44421                          I waved her over to where I was.

“Sit with us Savana.”

“Her! Sit with US?” Serenity answered. “Nope. Go sit with the rest of your loser friends.”

“Then I’ll come sit with you.”dscn44441                      But Savana had already turned away.

It wasn’t bad though. It was kind of fun being in the popular group here. But really I just missed Savana.

Joy’s Journal Part Seven

dscn44071                          I was at my door, trying to get in. The lock wouldn’t open, and Savana wasn’t around to help me. dscn44102                       Suddenly this girl walked up.

“Need some help?”

“Yeah.”

dscn44111                           I stepped aside and let her do her thing. In seconds the door was open. I took a step toward it, but The girl motioned toward her own door, the one next to it.

“Wanna come in, Joy!”

“Sure, wait, how do you know my name?”

“You are the one who fell asleep in class right?”

She opened her door, and we walked in. It was one of the more expensive, nicer rooms, that only the richest families could afford. I realized that the girl must be part of the ‘popular group’ for they were the only ones with expensive rooms. dscn44121                         She hopped up onto the bed and motioned for me to follow, but I stayed on the stool.

“Yes, that’s me.”

“Good. I admire your courage Joy. I’m Roberta, but my friends call me Bob.”

We talked until the dinner bell rang, and when it did Roberta invited me to sit with her, and I said yes. Because I liked Roberta.

The Picnic Mishap

All morning the girls of the Turtles cabin had prepared for the picnic they were going to have for lunch. They had baked treats, made flags, and cut watermelon. Now they were setting out on their picnic. DSCN8655[1]                      The girls sat down and prepared to spread out the blanket. DSCN8656[1]                   Mckenna pulled the blanket out of the basket and looked down into it. No food was to be seen. DSCN8657[1]                             She turned to look at Lea. “You have the food in your backpack right?” She asked.

“No, I thought you had it.”

“We left it at camp.” The two girls said it in sync.

DSCN8658[1]                        “That’s okay.” Said Eileen. “We can pick berries.” DSCN8659[1]                      Everyone turned to look above them. A berry tree that no one except Eileen had seen was in the sky. Lea and Mckenna set off to get some berries. DSCN8660[1]                        Lea balanced on a branch. DSCN8662[1]                     While Mckenna just sat on a stem. DSCN8663[1]                    The basket was nestled in the vines. DSCN8664[1]                         Meanwhile the girls left behind prepared everything. They laid out the picnic blanket, picked leaves to use as napkins and plates, picked flowers to put in the basket, found a berry bowl, and put out sticks to use as stabbers. DSCN8665[1]                            Lea and Mckenna returned. Seeing everything they were delighted. DSCN8666[1]                          They nestled the berries in the bowl and settled the flowers in the basket. DSCN8667[1]                       Sitting down to eat, the berries looked so good they were eaten soon. DSCN8668[1]                       When everything was packed away and ready to go back to camp Grace spoke up. This was great and all, but maybe we can have another picnic, this time with food?

Turtles In The Kitchen

Yup. More apologizing for awful pictures. (The I pad doesn’t have a flash! Who knew?) Anyway, for team bonding, the turtles decided to make something for the rest of the camp! img_0169        Grace insisted that they all wear buns and aprons. They took a before picture. (Eileen said so that there was proof that they did intend to bake, and not just kill each other.) img_0174        After several minutes of battling for the mixer they worked it out. Mia read the recipe. img_0171        Grace mixed. (Without the coveted mixer.) The rest of the girls did what was needed. Eileen poured everything in the bowl. img_0175         Mckenna got stuff out of the fridge. img_0176        And Lea did everything else. Here she got stuck sweeping. img_0177          The team bonding worked, and soon they had made several treats.

Have you ever baked with friends, (Or not friends)?

Welcome Home!

DSCN6892[1]We pulled up in front of a house. “Where is she?” I asked Faith. “She will be here soon enough.” Faith told me.

We were waiting for a girl to come and join us. For we were getting a new sister today.DSCN6893[1] As soon as I saw the people I went out to join them I saw a girl about my age, and a woman. Good. Only one sister.DSCN6894[1]The girl got off. “You must be Lea.” She said. “And I’m Grace.”DSCN6896[1]I got on, and away we went. Then we started to talk.

“The girls and I decided to give you your own room.” The woman who was to be my step mom said. “But it’s not finished yet, so you will have to sleep in one of the bedrooms.”

“Okay.” I said. “So I will be with Grace for now.”

“You can be in Grace’s bedroom if you want.” Faith told me “That is probably good, because it has only four girls in it.”

“Only four girls!” I gasped “How many do you have? Five, six?”

DSCN6897[1]Grace nearly died laughing. She was laughing so hard she couldn’t talk. So instead the woman name Faith told me.

“Actually we have fourteen.” She said “But they are all nice.”

I was very surprised. I mean who wouldn’t be? Fourteen sisters. I had never had any before. Now I was wondering how I would deal with fourteen. I pulled Grace up, and we changed the subject.

DSCN6898[1]“I really like your dress Lea.” Grace told me. “Are all of your clothes like that?”

“When my parents died.” I started. “I was outside changing for a party. That’s why I wasn’t in the house, and I didn’t die. I had only the clothes I was wearing, and what I was going to change into. Those are the only belongings I have.” DSCN6899[1]I turned my head so Grace wouldn’t see me crying.

“That’s okay.” Grace said. “We share LOTS of clothes, and you can too. You will never run out of things to wear.”

Just then the car pulled up to a house, and we got off.

DSCN6901[1]Several girls were there, yelling “SURPRISE, AND WELCOME LEA!”

DSCN6902[1]Then they all started talking. Fourteen girls, and I was alone.

“Hey, that looks heavy.” A girl whose name I have yet to find out said. “How about I show you the room you will be in?”

“Okay, thanks!” I told her.

DSCN6905[1]“How did you know?” I asked. “I was feeling all alone, and then you came.”

Being the youngest, I often feel all alone too, and I thought you could use a friend.”

DSCN6906[1]I set my suitcase on a bed. “Does this one work?”

“Yeah.”

DSCN6907[1]“Then I think I will take a nap. Thank you.”

And so I started getting used to life in the dollhouse.

Doll Mixer

We went to a museum this weekend. They have a teen tech  studio. There is a bunch of technology there, and as long as you are learning you can use it.  Now why did I tell you all this? I must have made something. Right. And you get to see it. I used the 3D printer to print something I made awhile ago, in August. Back When Grace wasn’t even close to retiring. Even though it’s not her year, you can still enjoy the mixer.

DSCN6881[1]

Here is Grace looking at her new mixer. (Wondering how it works, it doesn’t have a beater yet) DSCN6884[1]

Here it is, close up. There is a bowl and a base. Since it’s made out of plastic it’s shiny. The 3D printer does it in lines, so it had a certain texture.

DSCN6885[1]

Her is the bowl. It stands up on it’s own, and it holds stuff. It looks sort of like half and Easter egg, and since none of my other doll bowl fit in there, I might use Easter eggs as bowls.

DSCN6886[1]

And here is the base. If I get tired of it being a mixer, I might put it on the doll desk as a lamp. You might be wondering what that orange circle is doing there…

DSCN6888[1]

The top moves up and down to get the bowl out, and that is the pin. Pretty cool huh?

DSCN6889[1]

And here is another view of the top.

DSCN6890[1]

It’s a little small to be a mixer, (It’s only three inches.) But it still looks great in the kitchen.

DSCN6891[1]

One more picture.

See? This is why you should go to museums. So you can make cool stuff. You can’t really print anything big on the 3D printers, so it is perfect for making doll stuff.
