Spring Photo Shoot

For Easter I dressed up all my dolls in nice, springy outfits and took them outside for a photo shoot. I did a group picture, but also single pictures of each doll. I am going to use these as profile pictures because the place where I used to take profile pictures no longer exists.

Group picture!

This was really fun to take. I had to arrange all fifteen dolls. (Count them!) Most of the dolls are positioned well. A couple of them I don’t like so much, such as Gabi, Jenny, and Faith. Overall though, I really like this picture.

I am going to try to use it as a header image. I don’t know how well that will work…

Mckenna is not colorblind

I really like this picture. Mckenna’s hair is frizzy, and I didn’t have a good pair of shoes for this outfit that no one else was wearing, but whatever. Who needs shoes?

Mckenna is wearing:

A dress that I sewed and tie dyed,

The shrug from the fall outfit I bought at our local festival,

The matching hair bow with aquamarine lace wrapped around it.

I like this one too. The outfit looks good on Abby, but come to think of it, she would never wear something that frilly.

Abby is wearing:

American Girl Grace’s opening night dress

Headband from American Girl Grace’s opening night outfit.

I like how the tall grass and flowers cast shadows on Riley.

Riley is wearing:

Shirt from the American Girl spring breeze outfit,

Tunic from the American Girl spring breeze outfit,

Leggings from the American Girl warm winter outfit,

Shoes from the American Girl spring breeze outfit,

Random butterfly hair clip.

Katelyn isn’t looking at the camera. Argh! And her hair is messy.

Katelyn is wearing:

My Life As dress,

Headband from a Madame Alexander outfit. (I looked, but I got it years ago, and I have no idea what the outfit is called)

Oh, I love this picture of Grace. Even though the shoes never made it on her.

Grace is wearing:

Skirt that I made out of lace and fabric I dyed,

Tank top from American Girl Gabriela McBride’s meet outfit,

American Girl Isabelle’s purple Wrap sweater.

Hope and Pride

Argh! This one’s kind of blurry.

Hope is wearing:

Cheerleader dress from my local festival,

Pom pom from the cheerleader outfit (In her hair)

Headband from Our Generation Joy’s meet outfit,

Boots that I made.

Joy looks so adorable in that dress.

Joy is wearing:

A dress that I made,

Our Generation Joy’s meet shoes.

Maria moose

Maria isn’t looking at the camera, but I like this one.

Maria is wearing:

A baby dress I adjusted to fit my dolls,

The headband from the American Girl love to layer accessories,

The shoes that Journey Girl Callie was wearing when we found her.

Faith under the branches

Not one of my favorites, but it’s okay.

Faith is wearing:

A baby dress I adjusted to fit 18 inch dolls,

Our Generation Parker’s meet shoes.

I absolutely love this one. It fit’s Eileen’s personalty so well.

Eileen is wearing:

The American Girl petals and posies dress that Mia was wearing when I found her,

A pearl bracelet from Our Generation,

Random blue ribbon,

And she’s holding a dandelion.

I don’t really like this picture, but it fits Lea’s personality.

Lea is wearing:

American Girl Merry Magenta dress,

American Girl Merry Magenta headband.

I really like the outfit that Mia is wearing.

Mia is wearing:

A dress that I made,

A sash that my cousin crocheted,

The Journey Girls shrug Callie was wearing when we found her,

American Girl Lea’s meet shoes,

Our Generation Parker’s meet headband,

An ice skate charm on a piece of ribbon.

I like this picture. If only Gabi was sitting up more.

Gabi is wearing:

Our Generation Doll shirt, (Someone gave it to me, and I never identified it)

American Girl headband from Grace’s baking outfit,

American Girl Gabriela McBride’s meet leggings,

American Girl boots from Soft As Snow outfit.

Callie is so fun to pose! This picture was fun to take.

Callie is wearing:

A dress I made,

Headband from American Girl Spring Breeze outfit,

Shoes from Our Generation tworiffic twin set.

Argh! Jenny’s hair is so frizzy.

Jenny is wearing:

My Twin Blooming Flower dress,

My Twin shoes,

Random hair clip.

So there you have it. This year’s Easter photo shoot. I hope you enjoyed.

New Friends Part One

Lame name, yes I know. I didn’t come up with anything better. I really should have. Anyway on to the story!

This is the story in which new things will be announced by the way.

“Come on! It’s just over here!” Lea yelled.

Lea was trying to take me to a ‘secret spot’. From what I could see it wasn’t all that secret, but since I’d come Lea was my only friend, and I wanted to make her as happy as she made me.

We reached the corner and started ‘Best Friend Business’

“Do you promise to be best friends forever?” Lea asked me excitedly.

“Yes I do.” I wasn’t as much of a chatterbox as Lea, but she never minded.

“I brought something for you.” I announced shyly.

“A hair ribbon!” Lea burst out. “So I can do my hair just like yours! Oh thank you!”

As Lea tied the ribbon in her hair Faith came up behind us, unnoticed. (See I told you this wasn’t such a secret place!)

“Hello girls.” Faith announced herself. “I have some good news for you.”

“What?” Lea immediately asked.

Faith laughed. “I’m getting there. The good news is that you are going home Isabel.”

For a second I was quiet, then I spoke up. “I’m glad I’m going home but-”

Lea interrupted me. “How could you Isabel? I thought you promised to be best friends forever!” She stared at me for a minute and then ran off.

I walked up to where Faith was. “I was going to say that I’m happy to be going home, but I’ll miss you all very much.

Joy’s Journal 2-3

dscn36721                       A couple of hours later I went to see Mom in the hospital.

“What exactly happened?” I asked, as no one at home would tell me.

“Remember when I had Scarlet Fever?” Mom asked. I nodded. “Well, what the doctors think happened is that it triggered a chronic illness. I have been feeling pretty bad for awhile, so that would explain it.”

“But don’t you have to be be born with it?” I asked.

“You were born with it, but it also can be triggered by a really bad illness, like scarlet fever. It also can be genetic, meaning that it’s likely that you are not the only one who has it in our family.”

“What happened with the falling thing anyway?” I asked.

“I don’t really know.” Mom confessed. “I just was there, and then on the floor.”

“When are you going to be released from the hospital?” I wanted to know.

“Not for awhile, I don’t think.” She glanced at me. “Which brings me to something you need to know. I talked to your dad, and we decided with me being in the hospital, that we are going to send you to boarding school with Savana.” dscn36731                         I rocketed out of my chair. “What!” I screeched. “What about Hope and Faith? What about me? I have a chronic illness too! How’s that going to work?”dscn36741                        Mom put her hands up, like ‘what am I going to do?’ She reacted calmly. “Joy, Faith is old enough to care for Hope, and they both can handle being alone at home a lot. I don’t think you can. Savana will be there too. Maybe you can be roomies”

“This is not up for discussion Joy. We already decided.”dscn36751                          I buried my face in my hands and cried.

Joy’s Journal 2-2

This is the first part. This is Joy’s first journal.

dscn35881                         Savana was at my house that day. It was not a good day. It didn’t help that this was going to be one of my last days with Savana before she left.

dscn35891                         “I’ll go see what that is.” Savana offered.

I was glad. I didn’t really want to get up. Savana knew that, and she wouldn’t make me get up.

Or not.

“Joy! Come quick!”

I jumped off the bed and ran into the kitchen, where Savana was. dscn35901                           Mom had fallen off of a ladder or something, and was laying on the ground, not moving.

“What happened?” I whispered, not wanting to make too much noise.

“I don’t know.  Maybe you’d better call 911.” dscn35921                          I grabbed the phone off of the table and punched in the number.dscn35931                          “My Mom fell and she is not moving. I don’t know, maybe a concussion. What should I do? You are sending an ambulance over? Okay. Yeah.” I gave them my address and told Savana.

All that was left to do was wait.

Joy’s Journal Part Thirteen

part one part two part three part four part five Part Six part seven part Eight Part Nine Part ten  Part Eleven Part TwelveDSCN8383[1]                      Summer. It used to be fun. That was when I had Savanna, before her Mom got a job and she went to camp all summer, and I could move without being in agony. (Just pain) I had written everything, done everything there was to do without having other people around. (Mom was at work, Savanna was at camp, my sisters were at classes, I didn’t have any pets.) Then I got an idea. We had a woods behind our house. I would go on a hike, and be home before anyone noticed. I went outside and started my hike.DSCN8385[1]                          As soon as I crossed the bridge it was a wonderland. Huge trees, adventure everywhere.DSCN8387[1]                        A log twice as tall as I was.DSCN8388[1]                          A very tall tree that was thinner than me.DSCN8389[1]                          I balanced on a log, trying to stay on. A breeze came on. I must not be very good at balancing, because I went…..

DSCN8390[1]                          CLONK! All the way down the hill. DSCN8391[1]                          As soon as I stopped tumbling I pushed myself up. I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t get out. I lay there for hours, trying to get out but nothing worked. A couple hours later I heard Mom calling. “JOY!” I screamed till I had no voice left.DSCN8392[1]                          Soon though, Faith tumbled down to meet me. DSCN8393[1]                            She grabbed my hand and pulled me up. DSCN8394[1]                         I don’t remember much of the way back, as it was all blurry, but I do remember one thing.

“Joy, you can’t be home alone anymore. I am afraid you will hurt yourself. I am sending you to camp.” I probably protested, but it was settled. I was going to camp. After I recovered from this hike.

Joy’s Journal Part Twelve

part one part two part three part four part five Part Six part seven part Eight Part Nine Part ten  Part Eleven

Over the next few days Savanna and I made and sold more blankets. We came up to 500 dollars! Soon it was time to go to the party in which the winners would be announced. DSCN8311[1]                      As I put on my party dress I was starting to feel bad. I had helped rearrange our room the day before, and it was getting to me. I knew I needed to stay home, but I really really really wanted to go, so I ignored it and pretended that it all was fine. DSCN8312[1]                          I knew I needed to rest, so I took a nap. DSCN8313[1]                     Savanna came in. She was wearing her party dress, and look great in it. DSCN8314[1]                          I got out of the bed and sat next to Savanna. She giggled at my hair.

“Why don’t I fix it for you?” DSCN8315[1]                         I agreed, and she messed with it until time to go. DSCN8317[1]                         Soon we arrived at the party. There were people EVERYWHERE!, and I was starting to get overwhelmed. DSCN8318[1]                         A group of girls Savanna knew were in the corner talking. DSCN8319[1]                        We went over to talk to them. Some of them teased me, but I shrugged it off. DSCN8320[1]                      An hour of dancing, partying, and being overwhelmed later I saw my mom talking to a teacher on stage. DSCN8321[1]                         I walked over to them.

“When are you going to do the awards?”

“In just a minute.”

Mom saw my flushed face. “Are you okay Joy? Your face is flushed.”

“I’m fine.”

But Mom felt my forehead and announced I had a fever. “I’m taking you home.”

I tried to argue my way out of it, but she wouldn’t even let me stay for the awards. As we walked out they did awards.

“In first place Is SAVANNA!” I heard her walk on stage and accept the prize, another recess for a whole week. She didn’t give me any praise, or even acknowledge that I was there. DSCN8322[1]                   Mom came into my room. “Do you need anything Joy?”

“Just leave me alone!”

I was at the point of tears. I really wanted to go to this, and I came down sick. I wasn’t just sick, I was sick of life. Why do things have to turn out wrong?”

DSCN8323[1]                    After the party Savanna came to my house, but I made her go away. I didn’t want to be near her after what she did.

The whole week of an extra recess I was sick. School ended and Savanna went away to camp for the whole summer, leaving me alone with nothing to do except deal with my illness, and feel sorry for myself. When would this end?

Joy’s Journal Part Seven

part one part two part three part four part five Part Six

DSCN7882[1]    Later that day I decided to get some fresh air, and the mail. DSCN7883[1]        My foot twisted. DSCN7885[1]    And I fell to the ground.DSCN7886[1]    Left staring at the cloudless sky.

A couple hours later Mom came with Hope. Savanna was there. DSCN7897[1]

“What are you doing Joy?” Mom asked. Her hair was messy, like she had had a long day.

“Cloud gazing.”

Mom seemed to know that it wasn’t the right answer. DSCN7899[1]    She pulled me up. “Savanna is here to see you. Why don’t you go talk to her.” DSCN7900[1]     Savanna and I walked down the street together. She knew something was wrong, that I didn’t feel well. DSCN7901[1]    She came up into my room and pushed a bed next to the bunks so she sit. DSCN7902[1]      As soon as I asked her what was happening in school she started talking.

“They are doing a fundraiser for homeless people. You can work alone or in teams. The teams can do it however they want, but the team that makes the most gets an extra recess for a whole week, the last week in school. I was kinda hoping you could do it with me?”

“I don’t think I can.”

“Can’t you help? You can walk! Why can’t you help, or come to school, or do anything anymore?” Without waiting for an answer, she left.

Lily Anna’s Troubles, Easter Version Finale

DSCN7802[1]         “I’m going to get some help. I won’t be gone long.” DSCN7804[1]         Faith was checking email. Suddenly the email to Lily Anna came up.

“Lily Anna must have run away! Why didn’t she come to us for help? We could have helped her! Running away won’t solve anything. It only made us lose her! She only cares about herself.” DSCN7805[1]        “Faith?” Joy asked.

“Yes, Joy?”

“Lily Anna showed me the email, and I just thought she was making things up. That’s why she ran away.” DSCN7807[1]     At that moment Lily Anna came rushing in.

“Lily Anna you are in so much trouble!”

“You have to help me!”

“You will be in much more trouble if you send me on wild goose chases.”

Lily Anna didn’t hesitate a moment. “Ida is worth more then any consequence.”

Then Lily Anna told Faith where Ida was, and to go get her, and bring her in. That was when Faith realized that Lily Anna wasn’t thinking only of herself. DSCN7808[1]       Ida lay on the ground, shivering. DSCN7809[1]       Faith picked her up to take her inside. Then she realized how sick Ida was, and how lucky Ida was to have Lily Anna. DSCN7810[1]     She set her on the bed, and sent Lily Anna off to find an Easter outfit. DSCN7811[1]        There Lily Anna was. Home, safe, and pretty. It was a dream come true. Ida and Lily Anna were in a safe home together once again.

Welcome Home!

DSCN6892[1]We pulled up in front of a house. “Where is she?” I asked Faith. “She will be here soon enough.” Faith told me.

We were waiting for a girl to come and join us. For we were getting a new sister today.DSCN6893[1] As soon as I saw the people I went out to join them I saw a girl about my age, and a woman. Good. Only one sister.DSCN6894[1]The girl got off. “You must be Lea.” She said. “And I’m Grace.”DSCN6896[1]I got on, and away we went. Then we started to talk.

“The girls and I decided to give you your own room.” The woman who was to be my step mom said. “But it’s not finished yet, so you will have to sleep in one of the bedrooms.”

“Okay.” I said. “So I will be with Grace for now.”

“You can be in Grace’s bedroom if you want.” Faith told me “That is probably good, because it has only four girls in it.”

“Only four girls!” I gasped “How many do you have? Five, six?”

DSCN6897[1]Grace nearly died laughing. She was laughing so hard she couldn’t talk. So instead the woman name Faith told me.

“Actually we have fourteen.” She said “But they are all nice.”

I was very surprised. I mean who wouldn’t be? Fourteen sisters. I had never had any before. Now I was wondering how I would deal with fourteen. I pulled Grace up, and we changed the subject.

DSCN6898[1]“I really like your dress Lea.” Grace told me. “Are all of your clothes like that?”

“When my parents died.” I started. “I was outside changing for a party. That’s why I wasn’t in the house, and I didn’t die. I had only the clothes I was wearing, and what I was going to change into. Those are the only belongings I have.” DSCN6899[1]I turned my head so Grace wouldn’t see me crying.

“That’s okay.” Grace said. “We share LOTS of clothes, and you can too. You will never run out of things to wear.”

Just then the car pulled up to a house, and we got off.

DSCN6901[1]Several girls were there, yelling “SURPRISE, AND WELCOME LEA!”

DSCN6902[1]Then they all started talking. Fourteen girls, and I was alone.

“Hey, that looks heavy.” A girl whose name I have yet to find out said. “How about I show you the room you will be in?”

“Okay, thanks!” I told her.

DSCN6905[1]“How did you know?” I asked. “I was feeling all alone, and then you came.”

Being the youngest, I often feel all alone too, and I thought you could use a friend.”

DSCN6906[1]I set my suitcase on a bed. “Does this one work?”

DSCN6907[1]“Then I think I will take a nap. Thank you.”

And so I started getting used to life in the dollhouse.

A Hike-Photo story

When I decided to go through the tunnel I never thought it would lead here! It was pretty, sure. But what was in there?

I gave one last look. And went in.

At first, all was dark.

Then I saw twisted branches, so thick no sun came through. It was pretty, and terrifying.

Leaning on a branch, I looked around.

Then I was on the path.

And running  far, far, away.

I ducked under the huge pine tree.

Leaning against the tree, I caught my breath.

The I climbed the tree, wondering why it was so scary. How could I lead a dozen girls in gardening, if I couldn’t even stay in dark, twisted, trees?
