DSCN4764[1]

It was  rainy outside so we rushed inside from where we had set up camp. Now was as good a time as any to meet the others.

DSCN4765[1]

For awhile we just sat against the window.

DSCN4766[1]

We started to explore but to our surprise the first thing we found was Katelyn, Hope, Sandy, and Susan, sitting on a shelf. They explained that they were here also.

DSCN4769[1]

We came to a small bedroom with a chair and a dresser. A girl named Willow was sitting there. We talked for awhile and then, because it was still rainy outside we made our bed and slept.

A week long trip

It was the beginning of out week long safari trip. We would be out in the jungle for the whole week. Some of us went and some of us us did not. Counselor Faith sent us out with our supplies and told us that there would be a house with people there when we got there.

DSCN4730[1]

We set out in our bus. We had to cross  the flat land first before we went to see everything else.

DSCN4732[1]

In our bus we crossed the river.

DSCN4736[1]

We stopped to look at all of the beautiful scenery around us before moving on.

DSCN4737[1]

When we came to a little pond we had to float across it to get to the other side. Luckily the bus could handle that.

DSCN4738[1]

We went down the hill to find where we would be camping.

DSCN4735[1]

Then we stopped the bus at a pile of sticks that would be our home for the rest of the week.

The Last Time

DSCN4716[1]

Everyone was packing because we are leaving today but I wanted to go outside one last time.

DSCN4718[1]

I stepped onto a piece of wood and started using it as a beam.

DSCN4719[1]

Then I started swinging on the bar.

DSCN4726[1]

I grabbed hold of the rope and swung.

DSCN4725[1]

Then I got into the hammock and rested peacefully.

DSCN4729[1]

I climbed high in the tree.

DSCN4721[1]

At the top of the hill I looked down. I could make going down fun but what if I fell?

DSCN4722[1]

I split leaped.

DSCN4723[1]

And cartwheeled down.

DSCN4724[1]

At the bottom of the hill I fell with an “UMPTH” Then I got up and ran inside, joining the packing tornado.

Playing outside

The dolls decided that they want to go explore outside 70s style. Here is how to make a few of the supplies and then I will show you what they do.

Walkey Talky.

DSCN4689[1]

In the 70s they didn’t have cell phones so they would have played with these instead.

DSCN4687[1]

Make a two small boxes or stack several pieces of cardboard and cover them with duck tape. Slide a toothpick in for the antenna.

DSCN4688[1]

Glue on water bottle lids.

DSCN4689[1]

Put black paper circles on for buttons and you are done.

Skateboard.

DSCN4690[1]

Cut two pieces of cardboard to look like a skate bored.

DSCN4691[1]

Stack them and cover with duck tape.

DSCN4692[1]

Cut circles to be the wheels, cover them with duck tape, and glue them on with cardboard next to them tho help them stay up.

Time to play!

DSCN4693[1]

We were together at the beginning but we split up to explore. DSCN4694[1]

Mckenna and I sat down in the grass.

DSCN4696[1]

But soon she jumped up to use the bar.

DSCN4697[1]

We swing together on a big swing.

DSCN4701[1]

I sat down but Mckenna was in the distance, doing cartwheels.

DSCN4703[1]

I pulled out my walky talky so that I could talk to the other girls.

DSCN4702[1]

Mckenna was up in the tree

DSCN4704[1]

But soon she came down and we talked.

DSCN4705[1]

As soon as we left we saw pretty flowers and just had to check them out.

DSCN4706[1]

And then we stopped in a rock garden.

DSCN4707[1]

We leaned against a fence to enjoy the scenery.

DSCN4708[1]

I pulled out a book and Joy was knitting and talking. Soon I joined in though and we decided to meet because we were all talking.

DSCN4709[1]

Mckenna boarded the skateboard.

DSCN4710[1]

While we played Basketball.

DSCN4711[1]

Mckenna joined in and we all played until it was time to go in.

70s FUN

DSCN4680[1]

We were just sitting and talking. And wishing we could be part of the 70s fun.

DSCN4681[1]

Then suddenly.

“I come bringing craft supplies and 70s fun.”

We all screamed. “It’s just Hope bringing craft supplies and 70s fun. Wait 70s fun? And Hope?”

“Lexie went home for a bit while running some errands. So Faith told me to bring some stuff. I made it on the way here.”

DSCN4682[1]

Hope started handing out stuff. First she gave us some flower over-skirts.

DSCN4683[1]

Then there was yarn to braid into our hair and for belts.

DSCN4684[1]

Then colorful braid clips.

DSCN4685[1]

Next there was cloth to tie on our heads.

DSCN4686[1]

And then there was ankle bracelets and matching blankets.

“Don’t you want to join the fun?” Grace asked.

“I have braids, a anklet, and a blanket. I got all 7oed out at camp so that is what I have.”

“Thank you Hope!” We all shouted joyfully.

“We shouted happily not like me.”

“Isn’t that what I said?”

DSCN4672[1]

I sat with my friends. They got tiered of my talking and told me to do something else. I went to explore the ocean like place.

DSCN4667[1]

I went to the wheel.

DSCN4668[1]

I saw a canoe.

DSCN4670[1]

Bored I leaned against the wall. Then I got an idea.

DSCN4673[1]

I brought my friends to a table where I had set out paper and other stuff. I explained to my friends that we were going to make pictures.

DSCN4674[1]

Working on our pictures Mckenna asked: “How come you are so obsessed about the ocean here?”

“I guess it is just that it reminds me of pairs. If I learned anything there it was that moping never helped.”

DSCN4675[1]

My friends understood and said that they would try harder to be happy here. We finished our pictures and covered them with tape.

DSCN4676[1]

Then we copied them and hung them where we had been sleeping.

DSCN4677[1]

And near the couch.

Make records for your dolls!

Today’s 70s activity is records for you dolls. Where I am right now I don’t have many supplies so they are simple but make them as complex as you want.

DSCN4660[1]

Cut black paper into squares.

DSCN4661[1]

Stack the paper and cut circles out of them.

DSCN4662[1]

Stick a pencil though the middle for the hole.

Color lines on the records with brown crayons.

DSCN4666[1]

And give them to your dolls!

DSCN4634[1]

We were sitting, waiting to be picked up after a long weekend at a house.

The phone rang. I picked it up. It was counselor faith. Something had happened and we weren’t going to be picked up for a week.

“If we are going to be here we might as well get settled.” Grace said.

DSCN4635[1]

So we found a place to put everything, but it was near the lighthouses.

DSCN4636[1]

Bored, I started playing with a doll on a decoration.

DSCN4637[1]

Joy called us back so we went. “What is it.”

Half crying Joy told us that she had found out that it was 70s week at camp. “And we can’t even be there!”

DSCN4638[1]

Grace left and returnd with long strips of duck tape.

“This is the best we can do.”

DSCN4639[1]

We all put them on our wrists. “It looks quite groovy.” I said

DSCN4641[1]

We all put our hands together and shouted.

“70s POWER!”

Evening activitys

DSCN4614[1]

For our evening activities the girls who wanted to be in the show went to the gym for auditions. Counselor Faith begin talking.

“Each of you will sing a song and then tell a story.”

DSCN4615[1]

“Wait!” Willow yelled. “I wanna be in it too!”

DSCN4616[1]

Willow started singing.

DSCN4617[1]

And then Joy did her audition.

When everyone was finished we went to the camping area for songs and a lesson. In past nights it had been too cold so we did other stuff but we had time now.

DSCN4619[1]

Everyone gathered to sing but Lily Anna just sat in the hammock.

DSCN4620[1]

I led Lily Anna to the infirmary where we would be alone.

“Why were you alone?” I questioned “Why weren’t you singing?”

Lily Anna didn’t answer immediately. But finally she said:

“I’m not a Christian. I don’t want anything to do with them.”

“Then why are you here?”

Lily Anna started crying. “There is nowhere else to be. I am all alone in the world and I thought that I could stay here.”

“Oh. Being here is okay. We won’t push you. But you do need to join in with the others. It is okay this time. But not again.”

DSCN4622[1]

And then I led her to the craftatira where they were serving ice cream.

Camp-Checkers

Today’s post is a craft that the dolls make. Enjoy the craft and story.

DSCN4606[1]

When I woke up I whispered to Lily Anna. “Let’s go swimming!”

But she didn’t like that idea. “Too cold. Let’s make a game instead.” So we went to the craft room after breakfast for making a game.
DSCN4607[1]

We got some cardboard and then I went up to get stuff.

DSCN4608[1]

Our supplies laid out in front of us, we started to work.

DSCN4609[1]

We cut up the paper into squares.

DSCN4610[1]

And then we taped the paper to the board.

DSCN4611[1]

We played about ten games of checkers before we got bored.

DSCN4613[1]

In the gym everyone had the same idea. Everyone was waiting for some game or another. We were playing checkers, but then everyone wanted to join us. The winner would play the next in line. Lily Anna won a lot of games, and she actually opened up and talked to the girls she played against.

I would recommended making this game and playing it. (More so if you have a shy Lilly Anna.)

“Hey!”
